Kenya has over 50 national parks and reserves, but three stand head and shoulders above the rest: Masai Mara, Amboseli, and Tsavo. Each offers a completely different experience. Here's how they compare to help you choose — or combine — the right parks for your safari.

Masai Mara wins for big cat density. It has the highest concentration of lions in Kenya, excellent cheetah sightings, and the best leopard viewing outside Londolozi (South Africa). During July–October, the Migration adds millions of animals.
Amboseli is the undisputed elephant capital. Herds of 50+ are common, and the Kilimanjaro backdrop makes for stunning photography. Lion and cheetah are present but less reliable.
Tsavo offers a rawer, more remote experience. Wildlife is more dispersed (it's huge), but you'll have sightings largely to yourself. The famous "red elephants" — coated in Tsavo's red laterite soil — are unique to this park.
For a first Kenya safari: Masai Mara is unmissable.
For a 7-day itinerary: Combine Amboseli (2 nights) + Masai Mara (3 nights) for maximum diversity.
For repeat visitors or those heading to the coast: Add Tsavo for a wilder, crowd-free experience.
✅Samton Safaris' most popular itinerary is the 7-day Amboseli + Masai Mara combo — starting from $2,800 per person. Contact us for details.
