Nile Crocodile

Crocodylus niloticus

Witness the dramatic wildlife spectacle of Africa's largest freshwater predator, the Nile Crocodile, at the heart of Kenya's Great Migration with Samton Safaris.

About the Nile Crocodile

The Nile crocodile is one of Africa's most feared predators and plays a dramatic role in the Great Migration. At the Mara and Grumeti river crossings, massive crocodiles — some over 5 metres long — lie in wait for the wildebeest and zebra herds, creating some of the most dramatic wildlife spectacles on Earth.

Nile crocodiles have the strongest bite force ever measured in a living animal — approximately 5,000 PSI. Despite their fearsome reputation, female crocodiles are remarkably gentle mothers, carefully carrying hatchlings in their jaws to the water.
