Premium gorilla trekking experiences in Rwanda's spectacular volcanic landscape, home to Dian Fossey's famous research.
Volcanoes National Park in northwestern Rwanda encompasses five of the eight volcanic peaks of the Virunga Mountains. This stunning landscape of bamboo forests, alpine meadows, and volcanic summits is home to Rwanda's mountain gorilla population.
Rwanda offers a more premium, streamlined gorilla experience than Uganda. Treks typically start from higher altitudes with shorter walking distances, and the country's excellent infrastructure means smooth transfers from Kigali.
Beyond gorillas, track the rare golden monkey, hike to Dian Fossey's former research station and grave site, or summit Mount Bisoke for views of the volcanic chain.

Dry Season
The short dry season brings clear skies and excellent game viewing. Vegetation thins out, concentrating wildlife around remaining water sources. This is one of the best months for photography with golden-hour light across the savanna.
